"Mary, Mary!"

February 28, 2015

Mary Mary
They say contrary
Must be scary
They always ask
How does your garden grow?

Not Silver Bells
No Cockle Shells
Nor Pretty Maidens
In A Row

But From The Hell
You've Been Through
My Precious Boo

As A Child
Stolen Smile
Mama Wild

Tor-Men-Tu-Ous
Environment
Not Relevant

Your Innocence
No
Deliverance

Watered Eyes
 Saturate
Seed You Plant
Sown So Deep
In Your Soul
What I'm Told

Dreams At Night
Your Garden Grows
Is What I'm Told
Of What You've Sown

Garden Grows
What Do You See?

Yes My Child
What You Want To Be

Now Go My Sweet

My Little One
On Da
Run, Run, Run,

To The Fields
Your Garden Grows
With Pretty Maidens
In A Row
Flowers High
Up To The Sky
Where You Bloom

And Never Die
Just Multiply!"

"Doubt?"

February 27, 2015

"Doubt?"

You said I'd never be a leader
You said I'd never wear a crown
If I wanted to be someone
I should learn to settle down

You should know better I tell myself
You'll never go further I warn myself
You'll never be better don't know me that well

I made it to the end
I nearly paid the cost
I lost a lot of friends
I sacrificed a lot
I'd do it all again
'Cause I made it to the top
But I can't keep doubting myself anymore

No! No!
I can't keep doubting myself no

Now you're looking at a leader
Now you're staring at a queen
You said I'll never be someone
But now I'm pulling all the strings

You should know better Won't let me back down
You'll never go further Can't turn me around
You'll never be better So no-one's stopping me now

I made it to the end

I nearly paid the cost
I lost a lot of friends
I sacrificed a lot
I'd do it all again
'Cause I made it to the top
I can't keep doubting myself anymore

No! No! no, no, no, no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no,

You think you know
But you don't know the half
You think you beat me down
But I'll have the last laugh
I'll keep getting up
'Cause that's what I'm gonna do yea
I'm gonna be the best me
Sorry if it kill you

I made it to the end
I nearly paid the cost
I lost a lot of friends
I sacrificed a lot
I'd do it all again
'Cause I made it to the top
But I can't keep doubting myself anymore
No, oh no, no, no, no, no
I can't keep doubting myself no, no, no, no, no

Be Your Story......

February 26, 2015

I AM an Un ~ Finished Book!     * * * * *         We are Un ~ Finished Books!

What I mean by that is every day is a journey, an opportunity for a new chapter in our book of life, our memoir, our novel, our adventure.  As CREATORS we are the ones that have the last word, the final say so.  When we ink the words "Let There BE" be becomes!

We must use the gift God has given us and become what we dream of being.  Pick up your pen and write your story.  Be the Creator you were born to be.  If it's the body, finances, relationships, home, education, whatever it is write your story, become that person, that thing you must be, that thing that's burning on the inside of you, that person that won't settle, that won't sleep until their story is written, until the "Dream is Alive!"

Be different, dare greatly, say out loud what you are capable of doing and becoming then write it.  Be your story, you're the only one that knows how the story will go.

"The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man;
nothing else that he builds ever lasts.  Monuments fall;  nations
perish; civilizations grow old and die out.  After an era of darkness,
new races build others; but in the world of books are volumes that
live on still as young and fresh as the day they were written, still
telling men's hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead.

"The Spirit of Excellency!!"

February 25, 2015

Excellency:  1. a person so entitled.  2. excellent qualities or features.

Excellence:  1. the fact or state of excelling; superiority; eminence.  2. an excellent quality or feature.

Excellent:  1. possessing outstanding quality or superior merit; remarkably good.

Okay, I have a confession to make.  I was reading what I wrote in my blogs for the past couple of days and I discovered a few grammatical errors.  As well, I came across a big oops in the posting entitled the "Art of War".

I had listed the 13 strategies of the "Art of War" but I left strategy number eight out.  Strategy number eight (VIII) is, "Variation of Tactics".

I'm going to defer going into the strategies of the "Art of War" and wait until I address it in another blog.  But I do want to speak to "The Spirit of Excellency" and how I can do better with my blogging and my work by making a few changes that can help me produce a better product.

One thing I believe will help is for me to change the time of day that I sit down to blog. When I hit publish it's been close to midnight and most times I'm looking at around 2:00 A.M,  That's when it's the quietest time in the house for me, but apparently it's not the most conducive to me submitting the best quality of work in the spirit of "Excellency & Truth!!"

I'm hoping that, by making a few changes, I'll do a better job at editing by checking my work more thoroughly before I submit and enter publish.

That's what life is all about, taking the time for self reflection and if you see something askew, make the necessary changes that promotes growth and prosperity.

"I Am A Conqueror!"

February 24, 2015

Conquer:  1. to be victorious; make conquests.  2. to gain a victory over; surmount; master; overcome.  3. to overcome by force; subdue; vanquish.

I've talked about the "Art of War" and how we must have strategies to overcome and be conquerors in life because if we don't prepare ourselves to meet life on life's terms then we'll get the living sh*t kicked out of us.

We must put our armor on daily.  The book of "Ephesians" gives a good analogy on how we can prepare ourselves for living our lives by putting on the "Whole Armour Of God."

We know that we don't wrestle man, (flesh and blood).

Our fight, our struggle is spiritual, it starts inside of us with our minds.  We're reminded that we must stand strong to overcome.  And, when we've done all we can do to stand, we must continue to STAND with our loins of truth, and breastplate of righteousness.

Our feet, must walk in peace.  When we walk in Peace it suffices as our Gospel, our Core, our Truth.

FAITH is our shield, our action.  When matters of life come up against us we're covered, we have a defense against the fiery darts.

There's a reason why SALVATION is covered with a helmet. The helmet represents protection for our minds where the battlefield lies.

We must use our "Weapons of Warfare" our SWORD of the Spirit is the Word of God!!

We know the "Art of War" and we're prepared to quench all the fiery darts thrown at us everyday,

If it's words that wound, finances of fire or the enemy of exhaustion.

Be Ready!

We're More Than A Conqueror!

We must Open our Mouths And Speak Boldly What The Word Of God Says!

Daily affirm and DECLARE

"We ARE Conquerors!"

"I Am A Conqueror!"

"Art of War!"

February 23, 2015

Did you know that there is an "Art of War?"  Go figure! Who'd of thunk?  Well, there is, there really is an "Art of War!"

The title of the book all by itself piqued my curiosity and I had to know what the "Art of War" is, and how does that apply to the average persons daily way of life?

I'm going to take some time over the next month or so to delve into "Sun Tzu's" thirteen strategies of the:

"Art of War"

Introduction:

I * Laying Plans

II * Waging War

III * Attack by Stratagem

IV * Tactical Dispositions

V * Energy

VI * Weak Points & Strong

VII * Maneuvering

IX * The Army On The March

X * Terrain

XI * The Nine Situations

XII * The Attack By Fire

XI* The Use of Spies

Sun Tzu Wu was a native of the Ch'i State.  He was brought to notice by Ho Lu, King of Wu who read Sun Tzu's 13 chapters of his "Art of War" and wanted to put his theory of managing soldiers to the test by applying it to women.

Sun Tzu arranged for 180 women to be divided into two groups with the King's two favorite concubines at the head of each.  He bade the women to take spears into their hands then proceeded to ask the women if the knew the difference between front, back, right and left hand?  The women replied: "Yes."  Sun Tzu went on to say: "When I say "Eyes Front, Left turn, Right turn, About turn," you must do so accordingly."  The girls assented.  The sound of drums began, Sun Tzu gave the order "Right turn."  All the girls burst into laughter, Sun Tzu said: "If words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, then the General is to blame."

He started to drill the women again, this time he ordered: "Left turn."  The women burst into laughter again.  Sun Tzu went on to say: "If words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, the general is to blame.  But if his orders are clear, and the soldiers nevertheless disobey, then it is the fault of their officers!"

He ordered the leaders of the two groups to be beheaded.  King Wu was watching from afar and sent word to Sun Tzu and said: "We are now quite satisfied as to our Generals ability to handle troops.  If we are bereft of these two concubines, our meat and drink will lose their savor.  It is our wish that they shall not be beheaded!"

Sun Tzu replied: "Having once received His Majesty's commission to be the General of his forces, there are certain commands of His Majesty which, acting in that capacity, I am unable to accept."

Accordingly, he beheaded the two leaders and had the next two in order take their place and sounded the drums, this time the women went through all the evolutions, turning to the right, left, marching ahead, kneeling, standing or wheeling back with perfect accuracy, precision and without the utterance of a sound!

Sun Tzu sent word to the King: "Your soldiers, Sire, are now properly drilled, disciplined and ready for Your Majesty's inspection.  They can be put to any use that their Sovereign may desire; bid them go through fire and water and they will not disobey."

The King replied: "Let our General cease drilling and return to camp.  As for us, we have no wish to come down and inspect the troops."

Sun Tzu replied:  "The King is only fond of words, and cannot translate them into deeds!"  After that King Ho Lu saw that Sun Tzu was one who knew how to handle an army and was appointed General!!!

Wow!!  This is an amazing introduction that must be broken down into sections.  Tell me what's your interpretation?  I'll let you ponder over this for the next 24 hours then we'll chat........

Feel free to leave a comment open for discussion tomorrow.......

"Walking Shoes!"

February 21, 2015

"Walking Shoes"  I heard a song tonight that I MUST share.  I love the artist "Mali Music" equally, I love this song that he sang; incredible.  Whenever I hear a song that moves me I like to share the songs, I don't know why I'm that way.  It's like when I hear a great sermon, omgosh, I want to call people and tell them to turn the t.v. to the channel so they can hear what I'm hearing!

Without further ado:

Walking Shoes!!

"Got my walking shoes on
Can't tell you where I'm going
but I'm walking down this lonely road
But at least the scenery is beautiful
An no matter what I do I can't stop walking no
I know its the only way to go
And if I keep walking I'mma be ok
It's not always about knowing why
Sometimes it's all about knowing what
And that's enough to keep you walking everyday.

Yeah I believe, I believe
But it's a dream that I ain't seen yet
Chasing a dream that I ain't dreamed yet
But I'mma meet it halfway if I keep on walking, walking, walking
If I keep on walking, walking, walking,
yeah I know it when I see it,
walking, walking, walking

Always waiting for something good to find you
But if it don't come what are you gonna do?
Even though winter feels like summertime
In the night you see the light of day
Cause I've been blind for way too long

And you can't take my light away
Even though all my times aren't happy times
I get unsure and hope for brighter days
I never let it slow my pace
so knowing failure ain't an option
And I've been promised
and I'm on my way up

Said I believe, I believe
But it's a dream that I ain't seen yet
Chasing a dream that I ain't dreamed yet
But I'mma meet it halfway if I keep on walking, walking, walking

Thy Word's a light unto my path
A lamp unto my feet
These shoes, these shoes, these shoes, my shoes
Walking towards the promise
Walking towards much better land

Said I believe, I believe
But it's a dream that I ain't seen yet
Chasing a dream that I ain't dreamed yet
But I'mma meet it halfway if I keep on walking, walking, walking........"

"We Are Habit!!"

February 19, 2015

Habit: 1. an acquired pattern of behavior that has become almost involuntary as a result of frequent repetition.  2. customary practice or use.  3. a particular practice, custom, or usage;  4. a dominant or regular character or tendency; addiction, mental character or disposition.

"I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do you might just as well turn over to me
and,
I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed ~ you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done
and,
after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men;
and,
alas,
of all failures, as well.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine,
though I work with all the precision of a machine
plus,
the intelligence of a man.
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin ~ it makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me,
and,
I will place the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who Am I?
I Am You.
I Am Habit!"

"I Command You To Laugh!"

February 18, 2015

Wife: How would you describe me?
Husband: ABCDEFGHIJK
Wife: What does that mean?
Husband: adorable, beautiful, cute, delicious, elegant, funny, gorgeous, happy
Wife: What about IJK?
Husband: I'm just kidding!

Q: "What happens to a frog's car when it breaks down?"
A: "It gets toad away."

Q: "What did the duck say when he bought lipstick?"
A: "Put it on my bill."

Q: "How do astronomers organize a party?"
A: "They planet!"

Okay, Okay, I get it!  These may not be the best jokes in the world, but you get it right.  Take time out to laugh a little.  Put a smile on your face.

"Breathe......."

February 17, 2015

Breathe:  1. to take air, oxygen, etc, into the lungs and expel it; inhale and exhale; respire.  2. to pause, as for breath; rest.  3. to live, exist; to be redolent of.

Sometimes we have to take a moment to pause and take a deep breath, period.  That's it!  Nothing more, and nothing less.  Just sit back, relax and breathe.  Don't say a word to anyone because at times that may just make whatever, worse..........

When you're faced with situations that may be a challenge, try taking a deep breath.  Sit on it for awhile, you may find that to be comforting.

I've had to do it and I've actually found peace in deep breathing and finding my way back to my core, my center.  Don't let your enemy steal your joy by taking away your peace.  Whomever your enemy may be.  My metaphor for enemy is the devil, for me devil is anything or anyone that comes to steal, kill or destroy any part of my life, my being, disrupt my harmony by wreaking havoc.  Don't allow it.

Your enemy doesn't necessarily have to be an outer enemy, a person, you can have your thoughts be your enemy, if so; rebuke the negative enemy of your mind, speak to gazoo, the devil and say "Get thee behind me satan and flee!"

Now when you do that, stay present with your peace, but don't stay long without filling your cup back up with new wine, new positive affirming thoughts.  You may have to take deliberate action steps of positive reinforcement, if so; do it!

All is Fair in Love and War.

When it comes to our minds, our thoughts, our lives, we must do what we must do, like brother Malcom X said; by any means necessary.

I have certain things readily available that I go to when I'm confronted with dream killers.  I have a dvd that is strictly for laughing, my pick me up, my go to, my joy and laughter serum.  I don't care how many times I've seen it, I laugh all over again, and again.  Don't let anyone or anything steal your joy!

And if they come for you, be ready, but before you do anything you must first:

BREATHE!!!

"I Did It!!"

February 16, 2015

OMGosh!  I Did It.....  I finally, finally, finally faced my fear of getting out this house to WALK!!

I know, I know, I know.  I can hear it now..... "What you talkin bout Willis?"  (I mean, Lolita) "Are you trying to say that the lady that has a blog called "Walking Women Win" hasn't been walking?"

Yes, that's what I'm saying.  I have not been walking.  I have done a wonderful job with my nutrition, eating good wholesome healthy foods, making good sound choices.  Choosing not to be on a DIET, instead having the changes that I've chosen to make nutritionally be a way of life for me.  It's a lifestyle for me now and it's been juicy and delicious, however; I have a lot of work to do.  I'm still peeling.

What you're witnessing is REAL REALITY!  This is some real sh*t........  We don't do it all and lose it all in 3 months.  I will venture to say if anyone has over 50 pounds to lose, they also have a lot of other work that needs to be worked on other than just losing pounds.  There's layers to this, like I've said before it's like peeling back an onion.  One day at a time, one minute, to one second at a time.  There's days that I'm crying through it, laughing through it, and then there's days when I'm staring through it.  I mean I have awakened at have said "It's a great day to go for a walk!"  I have gotten dressed, all gussied up and not moved.  Sat on the couch and stared out the window while coming up with every excuse known to man.

I knew one day I would move because I had to.  I'm working on something.  I want my health like I want AIR TO BREATHE!!

I had to move and the time came today and I tell you it was great!  It Was Amazing!

I Am Thankful for EVERYTHING, my feet, my ankles, my knees, my eyes, EVERYTHING!

OMGosh, the stretching before I walked the trail was the Truth.com!  It felt so good to stretch my limbs, my body was craving the stretching.  It felt so good to stretch, almost orgasmic!  I'm not kidding it was good, all kinds of deliciousness going on, fo real tho!

"Play Time!!"

February 15, 2015

Play:  1. activity, often spontaneous, engaged in for recreation as by children.  2. fun or jest.

Today I took a walk at Snoqualmie Falls and it was Amazing!!  It was everything I thought it would be and more.  I went up there because I first seen pictures and while I was viewing the pictures yesterday, my body started calling my name and telling me that I had to go to view the falls.  I'm so glad I did.

We must take time out of our busy lives to have a little fun and play.  Be spontaneous, engage in some recreational activities.  Release your inner child and play!!

Schedule some play time and while you're at it find a way to include some exercise, trust me you'll love it.

"Super Soul Saturday!!"

February 14, 2015

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Today was a beautiful day.  The weather was nice, the sun was shining nice and bright.

In recognition of "Super Soul Saturday" I will share some empowering affirmations and words of wisdom from some of our most renowned motivational speakers and powerhouses.

"Born To Love!"

February 13, 2015

Love:  1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.  2. a feeling of warm personal attachment.  3. a personification of sexual affection; affectionate concern for the well being of others.

I was at the store today watching the flowers and balloons flying off of the shelves.  Today is the day before Valentine's Day and you can feel love in the air.  It's a beautiful thing, I love it.  As I was standing in line I started thinking about Valentine's Day, cupid, the hoopla and passion behind the day that we set aside once a year to express our undying love for our significant others.

Yet, I couldn't help but to also think about the other 364 days in the year and what we do with those days?

I couldn't help but to think what would happen if we were to put the same energy and passion that I was witnessed tonight into the other 364 days of the year?   I  don't think we would have time for anything else but Love.  Just think if we were to commit that burning desire to ourselves what would we look like?  What would our bodies look like?  Would our goals and New Year's Resolutions be satisfied?  What if we took time for ourselves and decided that we would buy ourselves cards that told us how wonderful we are and how proud we are that we have taken the time to commit to loving our bodies, minds, souls and spirits?  What if our affirmations we spoke daily to ourselves consisted of empowering words of wisdom admonishing us to be the best we can be?

I'll tell you what would happen if we would put the oxygen mask on ourselves 365 days a year, showing our bodies, our temples how important they are to us as we take time to put the right foods, nourishment and supplements in us while feeding and exercising our minds and brains with powerful activities to keep us sharp and focused.

We would have the strength and energy to show the passionate, warm and tender love of our hearts and souls to not only our significant others but also to our neighbors, co-workers, friends and family!

Happy Valentines Day,

Love Always,

La La Lolita Love

"Are You Willing To Change?"

February 12, 2015

Change:  1. to make different in form, to transform.  2. to transfer from one to another, to become different.

Are you willing to change?  It's as simple as that.  We have to be serious about change in order to change, and that really does start with the question that we all must ask ourselves; are we willing to change?

How do you see yourself today?  Where do you see yourself being in the future?  Have you set goals for yourself?  If so, what are your short term goals?  What are your long term goals?  Do you have daily goals?  Do you have a checklist?  A to do list?

I know that these questions may seem a bit rudimentary, but if we're to be serious with ourselves then we have to ask ourselves the tough questions.  I'm not talking about asking and answering in our heads.  I'm talking about getting a spiral notebook with pen and paper and sitting down at a table and do your work.

At the top of the paper write: I AM WILLING TO CHANGE! under that I want you to write what changes you want to make in your life and what your plans are to make it happen.  Your paper should look like the following:

     *  February 12, 2015  *  I Am Willing To Change! *  I Want To Lose Weight & Be Healthy *

My long term goal is to lose 90 pounds by the end of 2015.  I will lose 50 pounds by June of 2015.  My short term daily goals are to watch what I eat and cut out all fattening fried foods and start walking 5 days a week.

This is what I want you to do as a start!

Love Always,

La La Lolita

"Forgive Yourself"

Forgive:  1. to grant pardon for or remission of an offense, sin, etc; absolve.  2. to cancel or remit, to grant pardon to, cease to feel resentment against.

You know, when we decide to make changes in our lives we start the cleansing process by getting rid of the old in order to be ready for the new.  The bible says that we can't pour new wine into old wine skins.  For me, this process is real and at times I have to take baby steps, slow methodical steps to purge out the old from the inside out.

Letting go, detoxing and cleansing can be a scary process that may also require forgiving ourselves for where we are, where we think we should be and for our not being where we want to be.  When we truly center ourselves, and at our core forgive ourselves; it allows us to have that breakthrough that we need to move forward.  Unforgiveness keeps us stuck, stagnate and at a plateau that could be an internal, subconscious unawareness.

Let's face it, if we can't forgive ourselves, we certainly can't forgive our brothers and sisters, our neighbors, friends and family.

Today, I will grant a pardon to myself; Lolita Arnez Jackson for any and all offenses, sins and violations I've committed against the natural laws of life that resulted in a lack of love, resentment, gluttony and disdain against my body, soul and spirit.

Speak words of Love, Health and Healing to yourselves.  There's Power and Vitality in Words filled with Faith.  In the book of Proverbs 16: 24, the bible says that "Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones."  I will speak words of health, energy and healing to my body, soul and spirit; the spirit of life and strength are in me.  The very God of Peace sanctify us wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved. blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, I Thessalonians 5:23.  I know that provisions have been made for me to be well in my body, my soul and my spirit by the living word that abides in me where I am STRONG, Complete and Whole because Jesus bore my sickness and disease.

"Authenticity!"

February 10, 2015

Authentic:  1. not false or copied; genuine; real.  2. having an origin supported by unquestionable evidence; 3. entitled to acceptance or belief because of agreement with known facts or experience; reliable; trustworthy.

Authenticate:  1. to establish as genuine.  2. to establish conclusively the authorship or origin of; to make authoritative or valid.

In order for us to become our authentic selves it takes a lot of work.  We have to peel back the layers and do the work.

It takes concentration when we pull back the bow to shoot the arrow right at the center of our target aiming high to hit the bulls-eye.

Life isn't designed to give us something for nothing.  Say what it is that you want, write the vision to make it clear.  Declare it daily and take the necessary action steps to accomplish that which you aim to achieve.

If you think you can or can't both is true!

"I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial's hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid."

"Almost always it is the fear of
being ourselves that brings us to the mirror."

"Brain Boosting!"

February 9, 2015

Brain:  1. the anterior part of the central nervous system enclosed in the cranium of vertebrates, consisting of a mass of nerve tissue organized for the perception of sensory impulses, the regulation of motor impulses, and the production of memory, learning, and consciousness.  2. Sometimes, brains, understanding; intellectual power, intelligence.

Boost:  1. to lift or raise by pushing from behind or below.  2. to advance or aid by speaking well of; promote.  3. increase.

I look forward to every single day in my life!  I wake up expecting blessings and abundance.  I know that I will have favor and that the Universe has a mandate to bless me.  I know that God has a legion of Angels working on my behalf to open the windows of heaven and pour me out blessings that I don't have room enough to receive.

My faith and belief that all things are possible to them that Love the Lord keeps me excited.  I look forward to taking action in order to be ready and prepared.

On my quest for health and wellness my brain has to be exercised and nourished just like my body.  We must take care of our brains, especially if we are of a certain age.  The older we get the more we must make a deliberate effort to pay attention to the health of our brains as it impacts our overall quality of life and well being in order to function at its best.

My father died of Alzheimer's.  I had a front row seat to the deterioration of his mental clarity and capabilities.

As "Walking Women that Win!" brain fitness is a priority,  It's imperative that we enhance our intellectual brain power with daily calisthenics of the mind.  Keeping our brains in good shape takes a commitment on our parts.  We must work out with brain exercises that challenges us to keep up with the demand of this 21st Century high tech, X generation.  Not to mention, if you're a grandmother like I am, the physical as well as mental activities of toddlers and adolescents makes a demand on our brains to keep up or shut up!

Have you had to help some of these youngsters with their homework?

I implore you to join the "Brain Boosting Fitness Revolution" with just a few minutes of daily brain exercises in a game of Sudoku, Scrabble, Hexagon Hunt, Mirror Image, Target Shoot, Tri-Tri again, or Jeopardy, or Read a Great Book. You too will have increased "Brain Power!!"

volumes that live on still as young and fresh
as the day they were written, still telling men's
hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead.

"Open Letter of Love....."

February 8, 2015,

I want to share a letter that I wrote to my students that will forever be a part of my life.  I wrote this "Open Letter of Love" to be added to a program that we put on at the end of their year long participation in a Leadership/Mentorship Program in which I was the Chair.

"Open Letter of Love
The Whiz Kids Journey to Oz,
Yellow Brick Road to Success!"

So, the day has come, the stage is set you've made it to the Emerald City! The Land of Oz! With much anticipation, trepidation, and excitement, you're here, about to meet the Wizard in the land of the unknown, Oz.  You ask yourselves, "What will this day bring me?"  "What will the wizard think of me?" (judges, family, community & friends).  "How can we do this Mrs. Jackson?"  "I'm scared!"

This is how you do it.  Walk up to the stage of life where the wizard is, pull back the curtain and tell me what you see?  A mirror, and in that mirror you see an image of yourselves.  You see your reflection!  You are the wizard of your own lives!  Wizard: 2. A person of amazing skill or accomplishment.

Let's look back on what it has taken for you to get here, the many sign posts, road blocks, and obstacles you've encountered on your "Yellow Brick Road to Success."  You started with the green light of confidence and enthusiasm, proceeded full speed ahead.  Engaging in meaningful activities that allowed you to reach inside yourselves and come from a place of yes to cultivate your vulnerabilities while overcoming your fears, and tears, lending your hands to help shape, and motivate our most precious resource, the little children in your communities, the junior ACT-SO students, the Club F.R.E.S.H. students, while being your brother's keeper, helping with homework, partnering with the YMCA Map Program.  I've had the pleasure of witnessing you apply the "Principles of Leadership and Success" through your gift of unselfishness as servants doing community service, standing by your classmate going through cancer raising over $1500 for her family.  You've stood for countless hours in the cold and rain raising money for food, toiletries for the homeless, thousands of toys for tots & families at Christmas' Winter Wonderland, Easter Baskets for children at Children's Hospital, gift baskets of food & perfumes for the women and children at the YWCA Women's Shelter.

Then, there were times when you've come to a yellow light, when you've had to proceed with caution.  You've had to slow down, allow for introspection and take a deep breath to ask yourselves the poignant questions about life.  "What do I want?"  "Where do I want to be?"  "Is this the right road?"

And yes, there has been times when you've come to a full stop!!!  You couldn't pass go, couldn't collect $200, life happened to you, hit you with curve balls with friends (or so you thought), grades, family matters, your future, even ACT-SO.  And you've had to detour and take out your map and say to yourselves, X marks the spot where I AM.  ACT-SO, will help me get there!!!

My beloved Whiz Kids on "The Yellow Brick Road to Success."  In order for you to be here today it's taken the Heart of a Champion, the Brilliance of Your Mind, and the Pure Tenacity and Courage of a Lion!  You've had it all along.  "You Hold The Keys To Success!!"

"Are We There Yet?"

February 7, 2015

Are We There Yet?  That's how I feel right now......  I know that patience is a virtue and I'm not on a diet, instead I've adopted wellness as a way of life for me now, however; I'm human and there's a part of me that wants me to wake up and have the goals I've set for myself to be manifested right now, today. That's all I'm sayin!!  (Smile)

The answer:

I'm not there yet, as the saying goes:

"I'm not where I used to be,
I'm not where I'm going to be,
I am where I'm loving me being me!"
~Lolita Jackson

Know Thy Self

"A person who knows not
And knows not that they know not
Is foolish ~ disregard them

A person who knows not
And knows that they know not
Is simple ~ teach them

A person who knows not
And believes that they know
Is dangerous ~ avoid them

A person who knows
And knows not that they know
Is asleep ~ awaken them

A person who knows
And knows that they know
Is wise ~ follow them

All of these persons reside in you
Know Thy Self
And to Maat Be True!"

There are times when the rubber meets the road and we find ourselves cruising down life's highway enjoy the scenery along the side of the road, then suddenly we have a blow out!  Suddenly things have changed and by all appearances it doesn't look too favorable for you.  That's when you find your muse!

Sometimes you have to encourage yourself, you need a word, you need to sow seeds of faith and encouragement in order to inspire and motivate yourself to keep on keeping on......

"It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.  It isn't a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream.  It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideal, but it is a disaster to have no ideal to capture.  It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for.  Not failure but low aim is sin."
~Dr. Benjamin Mays

Where do you go for encouragement?  How do you encourage yourself?  Do you have a Muse?  What is your source of inspiration and motivation?

"Living A Life Of Purpose"

February 5, 2015

Purpose:  1. the reason for which something exists or is done, made, etc.  2. an intended or desired result; aim; goal.  3. determination; resoluteness.  4. the subject in hand; point at issue, intentionally.

We can't afford to waist another day, minute or second.  Every day that we wake up we are given an opportunity to make the most of our day with determined intention.  Every day we're given is a gift from God to open our eyes, take a deep breath and thank God, the universe, our higher power for 1,440 minutes to be the best we can be today. Start today with positive affirmations.   There's a reason that we're here, there's a reason that we're put on the face of this earth.  Find out what your purpose is and go after it with all you have.  Aim high, set goals, strive toward perfection, surround yourself with positive people of influence and affluence.

Don't waist another minute of time, time is precious and priceless!  Our time MUST be VALUED by ourselves and the people that are around us.  The 1,440 minutes we've been given daily are 1,440 seeds to be sown in rich soil, soil that must be fertilized and nourished so that in due season we will reap a bountiful harvest of excellence and perfection.  We can't be tolerant of seed snatchers, be mindful of the people you allow in your circle, be careful of the words you allow other people to speak around you and into you daily with their conversations.  Don't let other people come and dig up the seeds you've sown with their doubt and negativity. Know that whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.....

Just call me Farmer Lolita! (Smile) My mind and body are the ground that I'm planting seeds of faith, prosperity, abundance and healing into all day every day. My soil is rich and saturated with words of wisdom and motivation from some of the greatest minds that ever lived. I refuse to let any chickens come into my land (my mind) and try to pluck up that which I work so hard to plant with doubt and negativity.

You may have to prune some weeds, get rid of the naysayers and dream killers that try to speak doom and gloom all the while going through your garden, your field (your mind) with every minute you give them (your seeds) just digging up every affirmation you've spoken (seeds) every dream you dream and goal you've set (seeds).  The bible says in the book of Proverbs "When you walk with wise men, you'll become wise."

"March on. Do not tarry. To go forward is to
move toward perfection. March on, and
fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on
life's path."
~Kahlil Gibran

"Continuous, unflagging effort, persistence and
determination will win. Let not the man be
discouraged who has these."
~James Whitcomb Riley

"Self command is not only itself a great
virtue, but from it all the other virtues
seem to derive their principle luster."

Affirm:

"The Divine Plan of my life cannot be tampered with. It is
incorruptible and indestructible. It awaits only my
recognition."

"All that is mine by Divine Right is now released
and reaches me in  a perfect way under Grace."

"Divine Activity is now operating in my mind,
body and affairs, whether I see it or not."

"Let Thy blessed will be done in me this day!"

"If At First You Don't Succeed, Try, Try, Again!"

February 4, 2015

It's all about finding what works for you and sticking to it.  I bought a piece of exercise equipment the other day and I just knew that I was going to love it and it was going to be great for me.  After it was assembled I got on it tried it out and knew immediately that I wasn't going to enjoy it, it wasn't the way it looked on television.

I took it back tonight and surprisingly it went off without a hitch.  I'm happy to report that it didn't sit around my house and eventually become a coat rack and I didn't talk myself in to keeping it because maybe, one day.  Nope, I knew it.

Trust yourself, when you know something isn't right and it just won't work don't be afraid to try something new.

Keep up the good work!

"Keeping It Simple.....!"

February 3, 2015

                                                                   Keeping It Simple

"Where are all the people
who enjoyed simple things
who used to go out in the sunlight
and sing songs as they gardened
stopping and talking with all the neighbors?
Where are all the people
who enjoyed life
who used to consider the home
the most important place to be
and who used to consider the family
the most important people to be with?
Times have changed most of these people
and urged them to seek the complicated
Yet it is only the very basic simple things in life
that can make people truly
happy."
~Susan Polis Schutz

"Think about some of the good things in life,
like sunshine, holidays, feeling loved, special friendships,
and laughter.  Think about rainbows, butterflies, and beautiful sunsets
and feel loved, cared about, and accepted.  Remember that in
life, although there is some bad stuff, good things really
do happen too."
~Maria Mullins

"Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are
unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.
The man who does not shrink from self-crucifixion can never fail
to accomplish the object upon which his heart is set. This is true of
earthly as of heavenly things. Even the man whose object is to
acquire wealth must be prepared to make great personal sacrifices
before he can accomplish his object; and how much more so he
who would realize a strong and well-poised life."

"My Brother's Keeper....."

February 2, 2015

I've been doing a lot of "Soul Searching" lately and today I thought about the phrase in the bible that says "Am I my brother's keeper?"   It comes from Genesis 4:9 when God asked Cain where was Abel fully knowing that Cain had killed Abel, yet Cain denied knowing where Abel was, he went further and asked a question from a question which was "Am I my brother's keeper?'

I find myself at times asking myself that question and my answer is "Yes I Am!" and as a "Keeper of the Brethren" I think it's important to for us to share the wisdom that has been imparted to us along our journey in life.

Be courageous, Be strong, Life Is Good.

I will elaborate a little more at another time, I'm going to bed right now I'm tired (can't you tell?).

Love Always,

"You Are Great!"

February 1, 2015

Greatness is something that we must strive to live up to.  I believe that we all have the ability to be great at any and everything we put our minds to.

Greatness starts with a belief, if you believe you can than you can.......

Malcolm X says that "Each of us should make the most of our lives.  We should give life our best, let us use our lives more wisely to chase our dreams, find our true purpose, and be as happy and successful as possible."

Lolita Jackson says, "Be the best you can be, do your best and God will do the rest!"
