I heard part of this song last night while watching a television show and some of the lyrics resonated with my soul.......  I found it on You Tube and I've been playing it continually ever since!  I want to share the lyrics to this song.  Tell me if you can relate?

"To Dream or Not To Dream?"

Dreams:  1. a succession of images, thoughts or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.  
2.  a particular sequence of such images, thoughts, or feelings; an involuntary vision occurring to a person when awake.  3. daydream or reverie; an aspiration, goal, aim, a wild or vain fancy.  4. something unreal or striking beauty, charm, or excellence, to conceive of something in a very remote way, to imagine as possible, fancy, conceive; to form in the imagination.

Dreamer:  1. a person who has bold or highly speculative ideas or plans; visionary.


     How old are you?  Should that matter if you're a dreamer?  When should a person abandon their dreams?  When is dreaming unrealistic, a mere fantasy of the imagination?  Should age be a factor when determining whether your dreams are obtainable or not?

I believe the questions are valid and definitely worth entertaining when it comes to having dreams and aspirations in your life.  A person would definitely have to be realistic as to whether their dreams are just a mere fantasy, or if they can become an attainable goal that can be reached with aim and focus.

If there is a burning desire in your spirit that keeps you awake at night and your soul won't rest until you grease your squeaky wheels, then I say that you have to go for it and it's not too late!

Don't let the F.alse, E.xpectations, that A.ppear R.eal (F.E.A.R.) get in your way and keep you stuck.

Live your life to the fullest and go for your dreams.  What ever it is that you aspire to do and be, you can do it!  Let the bold, highly speculative ideas of your imagination lift you above mediocrity.  Be a person of excellence.  If your mind can conceive it, you can achieve it!  All things are possible to them that believe!

You are a Visionary!  You see things that others don't see.  God has put greatness inside of you!  Today is your day!

"The Little Engine That Could!"

I know, I know! Ha Ha Ha Ha..........  You're probably thinking what in the world are you talking about Lolita?  What can you tell me about that book that I haven't heard before?

The answer is nothing!  Most people have read the story more times than they care to admit, but for some of us like myself, I can't get enough of the book and the story line!  I love to read the story to my grandsons and in anticipation of their arrival to grandma's house later this month for summer vacation I pulled out some of the books I have for us to read together and wouldn't you know it, up popped "The Little Engine That Could!"  As I was reading it, it made me think about what the book was saying from a different perspective......

The story starts off with a happy little choo choo train that was full of toys, dolls and food that was to be delivered to some kids in need on the other side of the mountain.  The little train was full of excitement in anticipation of the joy that was going to be given to the recipients of his items until the train started to have problems making it up the hill.  He couldn't go any further, he was going to need some help.

It made me think about life, sometimes we start out on a journey, a mission full of excitement and anticipation with the intention to do good for others and in return that makes us feel good within ourselves.  We start out strong, without a care in the world because we are givers, we want to make other people happy, then we run into a bump in the road just like the little train, you're stalled in need of some help.  For some it may just take a pair of jumper cables to help you move forward.  For others it may take someone to get out a tow rope to pull you forward, or maybe, just maybe you may need a tow, you may need to get hoisted up on the back of another vehicle, or need someone to put you on their back and literally carry you on to your destination so that you can get to the other side of the mountain!

The little engine found that not everyone that came along the tracks were as happy to help him get to the other side of the mountain.  One train came by that was "Shiny" glistening, you know a show boat, a train that could be seen from miles away from the outside, but lacked on the inside, wouldn't dare be caught trying to help someone else.  Then came another train, a strong train, you know that kind of train, it had power, a tough exterior, but lacked on the inside, it too kept going.  Then came the "Little Blue Engine!"  Not too "Shiny" not too "Strong & Mighty" just a little engine that didn't have much from the outside, yet his heart had character that couldn't be seen but it was "Strong, Shiny & Mighty!"  That engine hitched the little choo choo and All the toys, dolls and food and Talked his way up and over the mountain!  He told himself that he "think he can" he "think he can" until he did!

It's not always the ones that look the look from the outside or that talk a good game with the strong powerful voice that has it on the inside.  That's why we can't judge a book by it's cover.

We never know who God will send our way to be our "Little Engine That Could" to help us get to the other side of the mountain.

My prayer today is for me to be "The Little Engine That Could!" to help someone else get to the other side of the Mountain!

Have you heard of "Emotional Intelligence?"  Daniel Goleman  wrote the book "Emotional Intelligence" linking emotions with intelligence.

In the book Goleman reasoned emotional intelligence with increased skills that will foster growth in self - awareness, self regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.  All of us have base line levels of competencies and cognitive abilities or IQ that's supposed, but it's our emotional intellect and social skill sets that distinguishes leaders and sets them apart and above average.

People with the propensity for high levels of  "Emotional Intelligence" have harnessed and nurtured their soft skill sets.  While for most the development of soft skills comes with maturity it's also derived from the innate desire to grow by applying initiative and perseverance to develop and manage behavior, impulses and social consciousness!

"This Is My Fight Song.........!!!

     Rachel Platten has a hit song out right now called "Fight Song!" I'm sharing the lyrics of her song because it's my "Anthem!"  My get up and go song.  It's most appropriate for me especially now because I've been in a battle for the last few weeks, the fight of my life and I've been hit hard, in fact; I was knocked out!!    

     At the beginning of 2015 I committed to making a daily entry on my blog site "Walking Women Win" for an entire year, 365 days!  At the half-way mark, at the beginning of June one thing after another started happening it seemed as if my life was falling apart.  I was on a spinning wheel that I didn't think would ever stop!!!  I didn't know how to jump off, and then I didn't know how I was going to jump back on!

     Well, look at God!  Not only did I jump off, but I jumped back on!  I'm back in the ring of life with my boxing gloves on singing my song!

Like Mamie Brown's baby boy Les Brown says; "If you get hit and fall, land on your back because if you're looking up, you can get up!!"

We all know that there's "Power" in prayer, but did you know that you can move a "Mountain" when you touch and agree with another person?

     I have witnessed the miracles that come with standing in agreement with another person.  I believe that everyone needs to have that one person in their lives that they can call upon to stand in the gap for them on their behalf.  Someone that you know has a mega phone that reaches God's ears.  If you don't, please find one and watch how miracles will start happening in your life.

You need to pray about it and find that one person that believes in you, and will support you.

     Your person must be able to STAND for you.  Your person must trust you and what you are believing God for even if they don't understand they must trust you.

The key thing to remember is that the word says; "touching and agreeing" that's what you need, a toucher and an agreeer! (Smile) I know, that's not grammatically correct!  I just want you to get what I'm saying and understand the magnitude of it.  It's major!

I have such a person in my life. I know that this person has that mega phone that reaches God.  I can call morning, noon or night and know that she'll drop everything, including her knees and will agree with me, on my behalf and we sit back and wait on God to be God, to do what God does, and that's giving his children whatever it is that's their hearts desire.

I challenge you to find your partner and team up so that you too can experience and enjoy the
"Power of Two!"

Decisions:  1.  the act or process of deciding.  2. the act of making up one's mind, something that is decided; resolution, firmness.

Decide:  1.  to solve or conclude.  2.  to determine or settle; persuade or convince.

     Sometimes, making a decision can be the hardest thing in the world for a person to do.  In order to make a decision it calls for a person to make up their mind with a resounding firmness.

My father used to always say to me, "Make a decision, and stick to the decision that you make!"  No matter what you want to do in life, you have to first make a decision and then stick to the decision that you make.

Be determined when it comes to making your decision.  A double minded person is unstable in ALL their ways.  Don't be that person, come to the conclusion that you're convinced of where you want to go and you've decided what you need to do to get from point A, to point B.  Have a plan, and stick to the plan.  Be the person with a made up mind!

      On January 1, of 2015, I set a goal to blog everyday of this year 2015, of these United States of this Beautiful Country called America!

     Saying you're going to do something and actually doing it are two different things!  For me to make that kind of declaration has meant that I'm going to commit an un-wavering pledge of dedication and focus. In order for me to live up to such a commitment  has required an astounding level of concentration.  There are days that things will go wrong and will throw you off course and balance but you can't let anything get in your way that will keep you from fulfilling the goal that you have committed to.  After awhile you know that you're obligated to live up to the promise that you've made with yourself.

     My pledge to blog 365 times in one year has definitely brought me out of my comfort zone by keeping me focused and engaged with laser commitment..  I'm obligated to carry out the task of showing what a "Walking Woman That Wins" looks like.  It's not always easy, sometimes it down right frustrating enough to make you break down in tears and cry, especially when your computer breaks down, or your service is temporarily disrupted and you find yourself going back to the old school way of communicating by writing in a journal and then having to take the time to now log in your back log of entries until you're caught up!

A full commitment has meant that at times I'm up until 3:00 in the morning logging and blogging to get the job done!

     That's what it takes to commit to something wholeheartedly!  It takes a binding pledge of assurance that you've promised to carry out the task at hand no matter what road blocks may be put in your path

.  A full commitment means you'll find a way to go around, over and through the barriers of your comfort zone in order to experience the joy of a "Fulfilled Promised Purpose!"

Lately, I've been in clean mode.  I've found myself wanting to get rid of the old in order to usher in the new and for me that means everything.  As I've been cleaning my home, my domicile, the place where I eat and sleep and have social gatherings.

I started thinking about my spiritual house, my temple, my body and how much cleaning does my body need?

In addition to how much, I've been thinking about how do I go about cleaning my body, my temple?

In order to do a spiritual house cleaning I know that I am going to have to put my flesh under subjection and obedience and that's going to require discipline and patience.  A spiritual house cleaning for me is spending time with the word of God in prayer and mediation for guidance and clarity.

I know that this cleansing will allow me to get rid of the mercury poisoning in my body; also; I know that I will shed some of this sluggish, stubborn weight!                                                                                                                                                                  
I believe this cleansing will allow for a breakthrough.  I'm ready.  I'll keep you informed and will give an update as to how I'll be doing.

     Living in the age of technology in 2015 I've found that we've become more and more dependent on computers, fax machines, copiers, etc., and because of that when they go out and we don't have access to them weve become lost and unable to move forward, we find ourselves stuck.

     Well, that's what happened to me, for the last couple of days my computer was down along with wi-fi, television, cable, you name it, I was out, down for the count!  Not to mention I was lost without it!  I was going through withdrawals not knowing if I was going to make it........

     Then it dawned on me that it was all for a reason.  I needed the down time.  I needed the peace that came along with it as long as I didn't fight it.  When I relaxed and accepted what I couldn't change, I gained the courage to accept what I could and that meant I could change my attitude about it.

     I immersed myself into home projects that were needed and I now have a bedroom that's rearranged and my entire weekend consisted of re-doing some old looks and welcomed in some new!

     So, if you find yourselves having some technical difficulties, look for the silver lining and change what you can about your situation and I guarantee you that you'll feel better about the outcome!

     I know, I know, I know!  You're going to say that you can't believe that long winded Lolita is quiet tonight on the blog.

It's true you know why????  I am feeling high on life, it feels good and I want to bask in that!  I'm getting ready to run some hot water in the bath tub and pour some milk bubbles in it and enjoy!

Then, when I get out I'm going to get into my cozy bed with a good book and love on it for about 2 seconds because I know that as tired as I am, I'm going to fall asleep immediately!

     Have you asked yourself if you are ambitious?  Do you have ambition?  If so, then you know that a person with ambition is a person that has an earnest desire for achievement or distinction and the willingness to strive for it.

     A person with ambition will awake early in the morning and stay up late at night to achieve their desired goals, that individual will seek earnestly with a willingness to rise above mediocrity.  

     In order to be successful at any of your endeavors you must be ambitious.  Ambitious people are people of distinction that are eagerly desirous of achieving and obtaining success, power and wealth!

"The Simple Things!"

     I was at home today lying on the bed and I just wasn't feeling my linen.  Yearly, I'll change the linens from one season to the next, out with the winter, in with the spring and eventually summer,year after year.  

     Well, I was lying on the bed today and I just wasn't feeling the linens at all.  So off to the store I go.  I get there and to my surprise the marketers have decided what I was going to put on my bed because EVERYTHING was paisley something or other!  Don't get me wrong, paisley has it's place but I wasn't feeling some of what was going on with the Bold, heavily covered paisley prints.  What I thought would be retail therapy was turning out to be retail let me outta here!

     After much contemplation, thread counting, pillow hunting, micro fibering, six sheet sets verses four and me calling on the name of Jesus for HELP!!!!!  I load up my car and home I go.  

     I couldn't wait to get home to rip them old sheets and comforters off the bed and pull the new ones out of the bags!  I ripped open the bags, pulled out the sheets and commenced to creating a work of art.  Making up my bed was me in creation mode.  I was the "Potter" and my sheets, comforter and pillows were the "Clay!"  

     Therapy 101!  

Ladies & Gentlemen, before me lies my canvas, my bare KING size mattress awaiting a stroke of genius, begging to be adorned with lavish, luscious attire! I put the fitted sheet on (first stroke) with a  soft mauve beautifully striped piece.  Next, (second stroke) I lie atop of it with the flat sheet.  I then pull out the comforter, (third stoke), I have a white comforter with soft grey loose paisley styled designs on it.  I'm feeling in between my fingers a soft, luxurious comforter that looks completely different on the bed than it did in the package. It's beautiful!  The set came with three additional smaller pillows, 2 white and 1 that matches the comforter (fourth stroke).  I put the head rests on the bed (fifth stroke).  I untie a set of soft grey big square pillows as additional accessories for the back drop (sixth stroke).  I put the new King size pillows into the mauve colored pillow cases (seventh stroke) only to realize that I have an additional bonus that included two pillow shams that matched the comforter so I stuff them with the older pillows I already had,(eighth stroke).  One thing was missing, I purchased an accent pillow that is STUNNING!!!! It has a BEAUTIFUL Peacock on the front of it that has it's feathers laced with beads, crystals and needle work!  When you look at her she's giving you attitude! Strutting her stuff like she knows she's Da Truuuuf!  She has rich, vibrant, bold colors that popped the whole bed ensemble with flare and elegance!  She's so radiant that she had to get a name.  Her name is La La.  La La was the (ninth stroke) to my Masterpiece, my work of Art, my Picasso!!!  

     I get finish and all I can think of is; "I can't wait for Stephen to get home so that he can crawl up into these sheets after a hard day of work and melt!" 

     The moment of truth arrives, Stephen is home, I'm like a kid in a candy store.  I'm thinking; "Daddy, Daddy, come see what I did, look what I painted, how does it look, crawl in, tell me how does it FEEL?"

I look at his face and his lips didn't move.  I look at his eyes and they didn't light up and sparkle.  So I say; "Baby, will you reach behind the bed and see if I dropped my bottle of water?"  He moves ALL of the pillows and I'm waiting, thinking "YES!! he'll notice, he has to say something!" 

Notta, Nuttn Honey!!!  Lawwwwd Have Mercy!  In his defense, poor guy was just too tired to notice any dadgum pillows!!  I'll tell you what he said after he wakes up!!

     Was I disappointed, surprisingly I wasn't.  Here's why?  Because I needed that Oxygen!  I needed to have that mask put over my own face first.  I needed the therapy.  I needed to change the linens and I needed to bask in the feeling of sheer blissfulness!  

     This was my crowning moment!  This therapeutic moment was for Lolita.  Sometimes, the little things, the simple things can brings us joy unspeakable.  

Sometimes, just changing the linens may be the therapy you need!
